Disastrous Ongoing Flood in Bangkok!

Prayers have been said, aid packages have been distributed, and several things had been done in the flooded provinces in Thailand. However, nothing we do can stop the water from flooding. By chance, my family is still as safe and dry. It’s probably because of the prayers that keep us blessed. Nevertheless, no one can predict what will happen in the following week or so. Samutprakarn is the province that I’m in right now. I live right next to Bangkok and on the border of this province. Some parts in Samutprakarn have already been flooded; but since the water doesn’t seem to be coming near my house yet, we’re still at home and haven’t decided to relocate any time soon. Considering the damages caused by the flood, some of my family business’s customers have been affected. Therefore, my family’s industrial factory hasn’t earned the same amount of money they should have. I’m glad though, to hear that our factory, which produces films and plastic bags, can help the flood victims by giving them free plastic bags for covering and sealing their doors. In addition, I am also delighted to hear that my extended family is all safe though some of them have relocated. Talking about my current situation right now, I’m doing really great. Somehow, the flood has not affected me directly yet. However there are little problems about Internet going on and off but that’s no big deal comparing to what the flood victims have faced. Hopefully, I will make it to school on Monday. In my point of view, I think my self-discipline on doing homework is going great. I believe that these are great practices for me, just like what Ms. Renee said. Despite that, it also shows my responsibility. Even though the homework are overloading, I managed to try and complete each work with my best effort. I try my best to send every work on time but due to the days that I was in Vietnam for the French Trip, several homework are stacked up. I will surely try my best to continuously complete every assignment given.

Even though right now everyone is in the urge of helping others, we all have to help ourselves first. This continuous disaster still continues to damage several lives especially in Bangkok and Ayutthaya. During the first few weeks, buying things from the supermarket was chaos. I have never saw any shelves empty before in my entire life! People were and still are competing against each other in the supermarket to buy all their foods and other necessities in case of flood. Thailand is lucky enough that some provinces can still export rice and foods to Bangkok. Varieties of problems have also occurred. Examples would be like the shortage of food and rice, awful traffic jams, the prices of things that rapidly increased, the purity of water, and many more. For the long-term effects, tourists wouldn’t come to Thailand for a certain amount of time because they’re nervous about the flood. Some of Thailand’s attraction, like the floating market in Ayutthaya, has been flooded too. Optimistically, Thailand will soon restore back into a beautiful and peaceful country like it used to be.

Me, as a citizen and community member, can do loads of things that will help the flood victims. Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, my family had already distributed free plastic bags. We should start by helping our friends and family members first then help other people who are affected by the flood. One of the easiest ways that we can help is to donate money. You can find these programs almost everywhere right now. A service called True Move also allows you donate your money through your mobile phone. Additionally, you can also enter a program at Central World called “Wipe the Tide” which allows you to help the flood victims buy doing activities they provide. You can also as well volunteer to pack sets of flood-relief package at Prakiew Pavilion too. If I listen to my moral compass, what it’s saying is that I should really go and help other people. I’m already lucky enough to not be affected by the flood so now it’s a bright chance for me to go and help them. Even if everything is being swept away by the flood, one thing that the water can’t take away with them is the everlasting bond between us, Thai people.

Who Am I Video :)

Hello! This mini-video will show you some parts of my whole life story and the big impact that influences me to be who I am today. After watching the video, you might notice that I have put up several pictures that relate to art. This point describes me as an artistic person. I love drawing and painting things! Three other personality traits of mines that is revealed in this video are friendly, spiritual and hilarious. Generally, I both enjoy laughing and making other people laugh. For the fact that I'm catholic, I always pray to ask God for guidance. Even though I didn't include this in my video, but one little fact about me is that I also like to travel and explore the world. One of my biggest life goals is to go to Maldives, Paris and New York.

Friends and family, these are my biggest life impacts.  As stated in the video, I always tend to laugh a lot when I'm around them. Nowadays, I consider my self as a much stronger person than I was before. This is basically because of them. At times of laughters and tears, they were always there encouraging me and giving me support (like the video of me learning to walk, that was successful only because of the family support) Talking about my family, my mom is my inspiration. She's a kind-hearted woman who seems to always know what to do. She is like my moral compass. She shows me the light when I have my darkest times. Also, the reason why I am an artistic person today is because my mom influenced me. After my 13 years of living, I have faced several conflicts. When I am in one, I always think about my parents' teachings and apply it to my current situation. In this way, it helps me know what is right or wrong.

While I was doing this project, I have faced several problems. Technical difficulties were one of the issues. The problem was when I opened my iMovie the songs that I cropped were all gone. I had no idea why that happened so I had to crop the songs all over again. Another problem that I struggled with was the pictures. I couldn't find many good pictures that clearly describes me as a person; so I think that the weakest part of this video were the pictures. What I like about this video is that it more expresses on how the categories influenced me. All in all, I really enjoyed making this music video and I hope you guys will also enjoy watching it! Thanks for watching and hope you would get to know me better!

Birmingham Grid :)

In this birmingham grid, it shows me that I like to learn both individually and in groups. It's true because when I work individually, I can add all of my ideas to the work. When I'm in groups, I have to listen to other people's thoughts and ideas too which is a good thing since I can discover and learn new things from other people's perspective. According to this chart, I'm also musically smart because I take extra lessons in this category. I enjoy playing instruments like xylophone and piano mostly because I'm inspired by other people. As a kinesthetic learner, I figured that I learn new things better if I actually do them. Linguistic and logical are the categories that I don't like. However, I love drawing pictures. Whenever I have free time I always draw or paint but I guess that I don't learn best with the category visual and spatial. When I study for tests, pictures don't really appeal to me compared to bolded words and important dates. I like to relate things that are similar to the information since it helps me remember things easier. All in all, I agree with what this birmingham grid says about me as a learner.
